Moving a consignment from one form of transportation to another is known as transloading.
Moving a shipment from one means of transportation to another is called transloading (e.g., from ocean container to truck).
The majority of the time, this entails obtaining the container from the port, transporting it to a warehouse, unloading it, and then loading the cargo back onto a truck (for final delivery).
Your cargo may be transloaded for a few reasons, including:
-We may transload your consignment to save you money on per diem fees if it needs to travel a long distance by truck from the port to its final destination.
-If multiple locations are receiving your shipment. The labor required to deconsolidate the shipment at a warehouse, palletize it, and load it onto the trucks for final delivery is referred to in this context as the transload price.

Shipments to Amazon are particularly prone to transloading because they are frequently shipped to multiple Amazon FBA warehouses (which have strict palletization and labeling requirements).
If you are sending FCL to a home, your package will also need to be transloaded.
If your shipment is transloaded, the charge will show up under Destination Charges on your invoice as “Transload.”
